Paws Express Staff


Valeri Wright, CPDT-KA owner of Paws Express Dog Training, has been training dogs since 1991. She began teaching Agility and Obedience classes in 1994 and started Paws Express in 1999. In recent years she has also starting to train and compete with her dogs in Rally Obedience, Retrieving, Dock Diving and Barn Hunt. In 2012 she passed the test to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, 


She offers individual and group classes in all levels of Agility and Rally Obedience, from Beginners to National level competition, private lessons in Obedience and behavior consultations and lessons in Life Skills for dogs of all ages. Valeri is also experienced in formal obedience instruction and competition.

Valeri and her husband, Dan, have been members of Pet Therapy of the Ozarks since 1992 and have trained and handled seven Pet-Assisted Therapy dogs. They were charter members of Greater Ozarks Agility League, a NADAC Agility Club. Valeri is also a member of Association of Professional Dog Trainers, Dog Agility Association of the Ozarks, and Springfield Dog Training Club.

The Wrights have had five Golden Retrievers they have trained, Hawkeye, Dakota, Chase, Simon, and Stormy, which hold 24 Agility titles, 10 Obedience titles, 10 Rally Obedience titles and 3 Retrieving titles. Valeri and Dan have also owned and trained five German Shepherds having earned 12 Obedience and Agility titles on them. Six of their dogs have appeared as models in catalogs, print and video advertising, and greeting cards. Hawkeye has also been on stage at Springfield Little Theatre in two productions, playing the part of Sandy in “Annie” in 2002 and playing Helen Keller's dog, Belle, in "The Miracle Worker" in 2007, in addition to appearing in a motion picture filmed in Christian County. Chase reprised the role of "Sandy" at SLT in 2012.
