To register for a class you must complete the enrollment form and submit it at least 5 days prior to the beginning of class along with full payment and a copy of vaccination records that we can keep in our files.
Unless otherwise specified, the fee for the Agility Fundamentals is $80 and the fee for the other classes is $70. All classes last 6 weeks. Each class lasts for 50 minutes. Agility is a labor intensive sport. All students are expected to help set up and put away equipment, no exceptions. No allowances are made for missed classes except in the case of inclement weather. Drop-ins are allowed in Novice and Advanced Competition classes with preregistration when space is available. Class size is limited. Advanced notice is required. Drop-in fee is $15 per class.
Handlers must keep all of the dog’s vaccinations current for the duration of the classes. They must also provide up to date records to Paws Express as they change. Rabies and other standard vaccinations (or a written excuse from the Vet) is required. We also strongly advise that you vaccinate your dog for Bordetella. Do not bring a dog to class that appears ill. You are encouraged come to class and watch if you dog is ill and practice with him at home. Our property backs up to a wooded area. There are deer and other wildlife around at times, so we recommend that you talk to your Vet about a flea and tick product like Frontline. These things will help protect your own dog as well as others.
Dogs in season are not allowed to attend class. The handler is encouraged to attend and watch to see what the rest of the class is doing and practice at home until the dog is out of season.
Classes are held outside and may be postponed due to inclement weather or extreme temperatures. A decision as to whether classes will be postponed will be made at least one hour before the first class of the day, when it is possible, and will be announced at www.PawsExpressAgility.com. We reserve the right to designate make up day(s) if the weather delays become excessive.
Parking is available on the North and East sides of the Agility field. Please dress appropriately for class; casual clothing and sturdy shoes are suggested. Sandals and other slip shoes are not recommended footwear for Agility with your dog.
Handlers should come to class early enough to exercise your dog prior to class. A dog eliminating in the Agility field must be avoided if at all possible and marking inside the field can not be tolerated. If your dog marks a piece of equipment you will have to clean the equipment. If a dog continues to mark it may be dismissed from class without a refund. You may exercise your dog behind (south) of the Agility field. Please pick up after your dog. There is a pooper scooper by the back (SW) corner of the fence if needed or baggies may be placed in the trash cart at the corner of the garage. Please be conscientious and pick up cups, treat packages and other trash before you leave!
Dogs are not required to have attended an obedience class before enrolling in class; however they do need to be under the control of the handler. If a dog displays aggressive or threatening behavior, or in any way poses a threat to any person or any dog on the premises upon which classes are held, the dog will be dismissed from class without a refund. If your dog has a behavior management problem
(lack basic control by the handler) or an excessive interest in other dogs,
you may be required to take private lessons.
If a dog displays aggressive or threatening behavior, or in any way poses a threat to any person or any dog on the premises upon which classes are held, the dog will be dismissed from class without a refund.
Bring a buckle collar, a leather leash, lots of soft, small treats and a favorite toy. A hungry dog is usually more attentive so do not feed your dog before class. Training collars may also be used with approval of the instructor. A tag line or short loop leash may also be handy. Agility is a fun sport for dogs and their handlers! Come to class ready to play and spend quality time with your dog!
